Follow these steps carefully to perform a basic live-voltage check.
Hold the tester only by the insulated handle.
Place the flat tip on the conductor or terminal you want to test.
Touch the metal contact at the end of the handle with your finger.
If voltage is present, the indicator inside the handle will illuminate.
Traditional one-contact voltage tester screwdrivers use a very small current through the user to complete the circuit and illuminate the internal neon indicator.
