Shelly Smart Home Challenge 2025 Celebrates Top Projects

Shelly Group announced the winners of the Shelly Smart Home Challenge 2025 - its global competition celebrating the most creative smart home installations. More than 200 participants from Europe and the Americas submitted projects using Shelly devices, demonstrating ingenuity, technical expertise, and a strong grasp of home automation.

The challenge was held in June, with submissions grouped into three categories: The Minimalist—for newcomers to smart home tech, The Crafter - for advanced DIYers, and The Visionary - for expert-level projects. The campaign reached over 92,000 users on social media and attracted over 9,000 unique visits during its teaser phase.

Germany, Austria, and Switzerland saw the highest engagement, reflecting Shelly's popularity in those markets. Notably, nearly 20% of participants were first-time Shelly users, highlighting growing brand adoption. Today, Shelly products are used in over 4.5 million homes worldwide, with over 23 million devices sold.

Winners included projects that automated energy usage, retrofitted analog saunas, enabled AI voice control over smart devices, and built entire home systems with over 150 connected devices. One standout project allowed two homes to share excess solar energy via a single photovoltaic setup.

“The creativity of our community continues to inspire us,” said Ivan Zahov, CMO at Shelly Group. “These projects showcase the power of smart automation in everyday life.” The company plans to continue the challenge in 2026 with new community initiatives.
